Due to health concerns, upholstered furniture is strictly prohibited in South Hall and Donley Hall. Residents of Reuss Hall and East Hall may bring small sofas and chairs with proof of purchase within three months of bringing the item to campus. Proof of purchase must be submitted to the building Residence Hall Coordinator.
The following is a non-exclusive list of prohibited items:
- More than 2 mini refrigerators per room larger than 4.3 cubic feet
- Personal dishwashers and air conditioners
- Kitchen Appliances without an automatic shut-off function or with an exposed heating element
- Adhesive LED Strip Lights
- Candles/Candle Warmers/Wax Melters/Incense
- Command Strips - Campus Facilities recommends using small nails
- Electric Blankets
- Extension Cords – unless it is a surge-protected power strip
- Fireworks
- Flammable or Hazardous Materials
- Fog Machines
- Grills
- Halogen Lamps
- Hoverboards
- Lava Lamps
- Live Christmas Trees
- Mattresses
- Non-LED Decorative Lights - specifically adhesive lights
- Neon Signs
- Space Heaters without automatic shut off
- Sun Lamps
- Waterbeds
- Weapons
- Other Items Which are Deemed “Dangerous” by the Office of University Housing
Any prohibited item(s) found in residents’ apartment will be confiscated. It is at the discretion of the Office of University Housing if these items will be returned to you. These are subject to the Student Code of Conduct.
